CORRECTION: babies are not too young to feel pain.

You have obviously never been in attendance at one. I have, and you can watch one on YouTube if you have the stomach for it. The poor immobilized infant often lets out one of the most blood-curdling screams you can imagine.

And it isn't only the cut that is painful. At birth, the prepuce is normally adhered to the glans penis gradually becoming free as the boy grows older until it is normally completely free and retractile by puberty (often well before, especially if the boy has been "helping the process along" [wink]). Thus, in order to make the cut in the neonate, a clamp is forced between the prepuce and glans forcing apart the two layers in an extremely painful procedure. The forcible shredding of the foreskin from the glans is an act of torture, and the stripping of the skin from the body is universally recognized as an act of torture that is prohibited by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child: "a) No child shall be subjected to torture..."

Of course, cutting the prepuce is painful. It is chockful of blood vessels (you know an erection is mostly blood, right?) and nerves. They even recently identified a specialized group of nerve cells, called the "ridged band," which are removed forever during circumcision.

I am mutilated and certainly wish I weren't. I think of my lifetime of decreased sexual pleasure because of it. And gee, what a coincidence that the skin is missing exactly where the thumb and forefinger go during masturbation! And lack of foreskin makes heterosexual or homosexual intercourse that much more difficult. But it is sure better for the lube companies!

God/evolution did not make a mistake. The foreskin plays an important role in male sexual function.

Every time I wear certain shorts or jeans and my bare head is rubbing against the material I wish I weren't. Every time I skinny dip too long and get sunburn on the head I wish I weren't. Just about every time I use, look at, or think about my dick I wish I weren't.

When I see mutilated boys, I feel very sad for them. Relatively speaking, I do not have it so bad since the remaining skin on my penile shaft at least reaches the coronal sulcus (the ridge just under the head). I've seen some boys though who have absolutely NO play in the penile shaft skin. They can only masturbate or have sex with a lot of difficulty or lube. Poor, poor guys. All mutilated and of decreased utility and for nothing, too.

Thank God the practice continues to decrease in the US, though it is still way too high at around 50%.
