So maybe Venezuela is my paradise. I've been trying to learn German and Russian, and all the while thinking how much easier Spanish is (it can almost be understood (in writing) by an English speaker). But while the official language seems to be Spanish, do most people really speak Castilian? I'm a little confused on that.

I've actually read some good things about Catholic countries. They're much more open than protestant descendants; even after they've progressed to atheism.
