Etenne, I forgot to say that I agree with you about PPC. I also felt bad for him. Martir... not so much. Also, there is another element to the martirwithacause story that should be mentioned. In his first ever post to MBC he talked about uploading all BC posts still online (but not indexed) going back almost a decade. He thought that this would be a great service to the community because it would make the valuable information contained in BCs past available to all and would also remind people that it is a false sense of security to think that a post is "gone" once it rolls off the main index. There is something to be said for both of those rationales, but when a newcomer starts talking about re-publishing every post that has been made to BC the worries about both the motives and unintended consequences come out, as can be shown in the discussion in that thread. Once copyright concerns were raised about the republishing of BC posts, martir latched onto a comment of MElf's that an index would not violate copyright. Martir took it as a "suggestion" to make such an index, which he did. The concerns about his motives for doing this and worries about how this might help antis have persisted, even if people don't much talk about his index anymore. |
