Ok look, I'm going to assume that the box is full of perfectly legal things that you consider private, because if you said otherwise you'd be admitting to something illegal, so please don't clarify that. So I respect your right to privacy. About your PC, setting factory settings won't help, you need to wipe the offensive content with wiping SOFTWARE or encrypt the whole drive with Truecrypt (free, you can google it). About your box of private stuff, yes, I'd highly recommend putting this in a separate building on a separate lot but ONLY if that REALLY is a safer place because if could backfire if someone now accidently stumbles on it. Anyway, there is nothing illegal in saying that some guy had decent clothed boys in pictures and it was weird? So if that's all that happened I don't see anything happening - with one caveat - in the US people can go to an online service and say they suspect someone may be a pedo (most people really don't know this and assume you need hard evidence and should then call local police), the local police are thereby mandated to come and question you, but can't actually even enter your premise without permission, nor are you oblidged to say anything (and you should never say anything incriminating or to confirm any allegations, or deny any that aren't catagorically untrue).. you reserve the right to say nothing anyhoo, again, this all seems over-reactive/overkill for what went down, seems like nothing went down.. |
