Your inference from "Palestinians are talking Arabic" to "there is no difference between those who call themselves Palestinians and Arabs in surrounding countries" is clearly flawed. Speaking Arabic does not make Palestinians indistinguishable from Arabs in neighbouring countries. (Don't let a Scotsman hear you say that sharing a language with England makes a Scottish identity non-existent!) Palestinian identity is distinct and can coexist with Arab identity; people can be both Palestinian and Arab. You write "there is a Jewish culture" as though there isn't a Palestinian culture; but this is false. As kit has pointed out, Palestinians have a distinct dialect (Palestinian Arabic) as well as their own history, and a distinct culture of cuisine, embroidery (tatreez), dance, storytelling, music, and literature. You write "DNA tests can reveal if one has Jewish ancestry", but DNA tests can also support Palestinian ancestry; for example, the genetic testing service 23andMe can identify ancestral links to Palestinian groups in Greater Bethlehem, Greater Ramallah and the Palestinian highlands. Overall, your effort to erase Palestinian identity is a fail. ![]() |
