Irrelevant. The Green Party of England and Wales is a wholly separate entity from the German Greens. At its recent conference, the English Greens recognised the need for nuclear energy for many years ahead as part of the transition to renewables. Its policy is that it would keep existing nuclear power stations and even consider building new ones. Carla Denyer MP, Green Party Spokesperson for Energy and Net Zero said "nuclear fission - alongside other sources such as hydroelectric, tidal, wave and geothermal - can be considered low carbon, and [has] a role to play. ... So if I were Energy Secretary, my evidence-based approach would be to keep existing nuclear plants in operation, but to consider proposals for new nuclear power very carefully, bearing in mind the cost, speed and environmental impacts." ![]() |
