Well - assuming you're interested in the answer to your question - the slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is a call for freedom and equal rights under the law for Palestinians throughout the land of Palestine. It means dismantling the apparatus of occupation and apartheid in favour of a Palestine (whether this is called a 'homeland' or not) that includes the Arabs as well as the Jews. The 'destruction' is only of the current ethno-state. I believe that the most recent instance of any Palestinian causing damage to a church was in 2002, and even this wasn't a deliberate targeting, but a case of militants taking refuge in a church during a battle with the IDF. The most recent instance of any Palestinian targetting a 'Christian community' was, I believe, in 2008, when a Christian school was attacked by unknown assailants, though no one was injured. These incidents obviously should not be attributed to Palestinians collectively, and the evidence does not show that Palestinian authorities or society generally have pursued a policy of destroying churches or intimidating Christian communities. Contrast this, not only with the actions of the Israel state which you allude to, but with consistent attacks by settlers against Christian communities in the West Bank, such as the attack on the Christian community of Taybeh in August last year that was documented by the BBC. The Israelis want the land, and they simply do not care about the metaphysical beliefs of the inhabitants; they are equal opportunities killers. ![]() |
