The bible is no longer the guide book for Christianity. The most devoted Christians are ignoring parts and selectively follow others. That is modern Christianity.

The best animal welfare is not due to faith, but due to science. We understand animal biology and know when they are in pain. And we also have ethical rules when dealing with animals that do not experience pain (those exist). And when we slaughter animals, we make sure that they are stunned. Even when slaughtering fish.

In my country, we have a food authority that monitors farms. And people go to prison when they mistreat animals.
