It might be really smart from China. Raise the requirements for market access and it will prevent foreign companies. America complained about the different norms in Europe - the American cars were not compliant and could not be sold.

If China makes batteries more safe, then hurray! I only once had a battery that got too big and probably was on its way to explode.
