I'm very skeptical of the idea that Israel cares anything at all about disrupting BRICS or about taking sides and making enemies anywhere outside the Middle East. Their political self-interest is to not burn any bridges with any of the major powers and they have a history of having better relations with Russia and China than the US does. And Israel (and the neocons) have wanted to go after Iran for longer than BRICS has even existed. The best explanation I've heard for the attack is that Israel wanted to take advantage of a "window of opportunity" before Iran rebuilds its air defenses. I'm sure this Pepe Escobar character knows a lot of facts and figures about international energy and trade corridors, but all humans are prone to connecting dots that aren't related.![]() |
