The implication is that beauty and joy -- not to mention forgiveness and love -- cannot be reduced to material explanations.

(Thank for that link. I expose my ignorance of world cinema when I say I had never seen that. But re-enforces my belief that you really WOULD enjoy Always: Sunset on Third Street although I suppose it is more overtly sentimental than Apur Sansar.)
