These people who are quite ignorant of the history of the last century, they rant and rave about the state of this or that, hardly realising that the systems that they despise so much were mostly created and dominated by successive governments and institutions of the USA. European nations and others around the world have oftentimes been browbeaten or strong-armed into taking deals that they didn't really want, and which usually benefited the USA disproportionately, but which ensured some semblance of peace if accepted. The lesser partners in all this merely make their way against the wind using whatever resources they have at their disposal. Now that the US economy has been battered and bruised for a few decades by some hot competition from countries (mostly) following the rules laid down and rigorously enforced by the US govt, the first phrase that comes to mind for me is 'butt-hurt'. Successive US governments have deliberately and systematically crippled and neglected their own populace and by extension their own economy, and now the chickens are starting to come home to roost on that. Instead of ignorant futile ranting and idiot lies and cutting back on useful parts of the government, they should be boosting upward mobility for their population as a whole, encouraging real meritocracy, educating and uplifting the intelligence of their people, normalising their tax system to not favour already-wealthy people, get rid of idiot religion, stop convulsing from one drama to the next, stop going to war at the drop of a hat, reducing their defense budget substantially, fix their infrastructure, fix their struggling institutions, get their policing and intelligence agencies under control, examine the successful economies in the world and copy the things they do that cause their success.. etc etc ad nauseum. Time for political sloganeering is over. ![]() |
