Who is this 'us' you write of?

And for that matter, what the hell is "sexual self-determination"? And what are "youth" supposed to be "liberated" from? People with a legal and cultural obligation to take care of them who, being human beings, may make mistakes from time to time? Who may understandably react with horror when a "youth" they love gets sucked in by the medical industrial complex in alliance with wacko academic nonsense into dealing with the trauma that almost inevitably accompanies adolescence by disrupting the natural process of puberty? I could give a flying fuck about "youth liberation". What gets me steamed is the eradication of boyhood, our society's war on boys, the destruction of all those spaces where boys could be boys away from the shadow of the longhouse. Among other things, those spaces made for low risk environments where boys could fool around with each other as, to use your language, they "explored" their "sexuality." And the best of those spaces were run and supervised by people like, um, "us" -- men who cared about boys AS boys, who would sacrifice most anything for the boys under their care. Was there an erotic motive? Sure. And that turned out to be the lever that the longhouse overlords used to destroy us and deprive the boys we love of boyhood. SR
