I think your disillusionment with the GOP is that it is not the same Republicans party of the Reagan era. While I might not have agreed with their politics either, they were not crazies. Most of them were intelligent even if they were motivated primarily by wealth and prosperity. I wouldn't call them un-American in their values even if I did not share all of them them. 2024 Republicans are vastly different from the Reagan era Republicans and are being dominated by Christian Naturalists, white supremacists (of all verities), and basically under-educated white trash primary from the southern US. That is not to say that there are not a few Reagan Republicans left but they are not the driving force any more. The motivation of the Republicans has chance from wealth and prosperity of the country to power and control and they have abandoned the principals on which this country was built. They are not about bringing us together as one nation built by and out of many to a nation divided into Manga and enemies to be crushed and be made to conform. When did the concepts of diversity, inclusion, and tolerance of others become a negative thing? Conform or be crushed! What the GOP has become is very disturbing...........
