It is kind of a hindsight thing, calling a set of military conflicts a war.

And we might already be in what the future calls the next world war. Russia-Ukraine (with Nato's help), Middle-East (Israel-Iran, Sunni-Shia), China - Taiwan, China - South Chinese sea bordering countries, North Korea versus South Korea.
