I am not "hung up" on anything, I dont agree that we can just say that a word means whatever we want it to mean. The word "truth" means something. I am guessing that there are people who see unicorns. Just because you don't see them does make them less real for them. The fact that its real for them, does not mean that unicorns exist, or that its true that unicorns exist. They do not have a personal truth where unicorns exist, because unicorns do not exist. Doth that make unicorns the "truth" because they see them or simply "their truth" :) No, it doesnt make unicorns the truth. It doesnt make them "their truth" either. Because otherwise the word "truth" means nothing. The fact that the brain is fallible and makes mistakes, that hallucinations happen, does not make it "their truth". Unicorns dont exist, its a fact that they dont exist, the truth is that unicorns dont exist, and if someone sees a unicorn, then they are wrong. Hallucinations dont make it "their truth". It just means that their brain has malfunctioned or they have mis-perceived something. |
