Ever since I pointed out that you were passing off political commentary as BL content, you've seemed oddly determined to take little shots at me. As I said then, I don't even disagree with your politics. But apparently the criticism itself was harder to get past. That tends to happen when an observation lands a little too close to the truth, particularly when someone recognizes the rather transparent games being played. And when those games are designed to provoke, antagonize, and sow division, as anyone familiar with your particular style has undoubtedly noticed you seem to relish doing, I can understand why having them pointed out might be especially uncomfortable. One cogitation though: the increasingly ostentatious deployment of sesquipedalian vocabulary in the service of disparaging interlocutors is not quite the demonstration of intellectual perspicacity you seem to imagine it is. Genuine sapience, or perhaps merely psychosocial maturation, consists not in performative displays of lexical erudition, but in possessing the metacognitive discernment to recognize that one could articulate something vituperative and the prudential restraint to abstain from doing so. It's a distinction I struggle with myself. But at least I recognize it's worth working on, which I suppose is a level of self-awareness not everyone has quite managed to attain. |
