The head of the dead Jesus lies in the lap of St. John the Evangelist.

Botticelli makes the nature of the relationship between the two unmistakable. Both are also depicted as being much younger than they usually are seen to have been.

The painting hangs today in the Alte Pinakotech in Munich.

Worth the price of a trip just to see it.
