It is true that most people are fully captured believers in the culture they grew up in. The settler colony culture probably does promote the idea that there is one "right way to see things" and people are indoctrinated to think that if people aren't looking at this key set of issues in the "correct way" then those people are bad/the enemy/the problem/unacceptable. Being able to view problems as a group and forming group beliefs might be a human trait that helped us form stronger tribes back in the cave man days. Thinking that everyone needs to think the same way is a primitive mindset, but it's super common.

As to your point about people needing a place to "vent," well isn't venting more of a private, personal thing? When we vent in the public square we risk being misunderstood and having our venting used against us. To an old timer such as your self it makes sense that you would see BC as a place to vent, since you have a free spirit attitude that doesn't even try to fit into society's box. Free Spirits started BC and used to be here to hear you out if you vented.

It would be nice if people could use BC to vent without having to worry about their words being twisted up and used to judge them. Do you even remember how hostile BC was towards people with differences of opinion just a few years ago? The way any time someone came to "vent" and mentioned that they would never harm a child, they were attacked as self loathing. At the same time that BC was tolerant towards racism and misogyny, they would not let LOVE slide, unless it was their vision of love.

You act like "taking the trash out" is so offensive to you, while completely failing to consider the way people were treated like trash at the first mention of a word or phrase that outed them as not pro-c. Pro-c was the understood strict paternalistic imposed norm and it took a hero of a sturdy Tyre to stand up to the pressure.

You don't remember the thrice weekly proposals to ban tpka "Tyred" for every imagined thing under the sun. She's a dike cop liar anti transgendered villain. Just for daring to express a difference of opinion. Before BC's rubbery hero people who didn't swallow the pro-c mentality were the ones taken out like trash. Where were you then Chuck?

But it's not your fault and it's not the faults of any of the thousands of BCers who have passed through and not shared their opinion. Didn't we already recognize that the staying positive and not getting involved in negativity is the easiest path? It took BC's hero choosing the hard path over and over again before the crowd started to recognize that there was no there there to all of their accusations. They yelled "cop, liar, anti, dyke, trans, hypocrite" but over time people realized that those aren't arguments, they are just the empty hooting of mentally unwell swamp monkeys.

The fact that most of their insane hooting has withered away doesn't mean that anyone has imposed the settler colonial mindset on them. All it took was one person refusing to back down to show everyone here that we are all welcome to share our opinions. Even wrong opinions if that's what you think. People are free to argue and vent and disagree today on BC in a way that they were not just a few years ago. You're welcome for that, even as you act like the one who fought for your right to be a nonconformist is the one trying to make people submit to settler colonial domination.
