But ending your life because of your sexuality means letting external bigotry, fear, or internal confusion win a permanent victory over a temporary reality. Right now, the pain, the isolation, or the rejection you’re facing feels absolute. Maybe it feels like it defines your entire existence and that it will never change. But that is a lie your brain tells you when you’re drowning in crisis. If you’re stuck in a community that makes you uncomfortable with who you are, that is a snapshot of right now, not a sentence for the rest of your life. People pack bags, build chosen families or friendships, and move to places where they can breathe. Thousands of people have sat exactly where you are sitting, feeling like their sexuality was an unpayable toll, and lived to look back on it as a dark chapter, not the whole book. The absolute most defiant, brutal thing you can do to a world that makes you feel this way is to stay alive, figure out how to survive it, and build a good life anyway. You don’t have to figure out how to do that right this second. You just have to make one choice to stay. You have important shit to do! |
