Though singing on a bus is also fun. Two fun songs that come to mind are "We will we will rock you" with the corresponding drum sounds and the borderline cruel "na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye" song. You can't blame kids for memorizing the songs they hear on yt shorts all day long. "That's my brother, we from the ghetto, every night we eat bologna meat," sounds funny coming from a little of upper class white kid the first time you hear it, but if you aren't singing along with them by the 100th time you hear it, you aren't even trying. Music is one of humanity's basic technologies. It's meant to be shared between us, creator in harmony with creations. There is almost no greater gift a grownup could give a child than to listen to him sing and to sing with him. Listening to music on youtube is like watching porn. Unless you watch it enough to learn the tunes and join in, you are just watching and listening to other people being in their moment. It's a shallow reflection of what it felt like to actually be there making the music. That moment of connection between people is what makes music so powerful. Sad really how little of that comes across in the music content, but for those who don't have anyone content is better than nothing. But only to a point. After so much content consumption its time to touch some grass and maybe dust off that old harmonica. ![]() |
