Not totally sure I agree with C J Bradbury Robinson there, but the main point still stands, that it all depends on how you define innocence.

The innocence you speak of here likely refers to a lack of established beliefs.

The Innocent Child I speak of in the article is an idealized fantasy. Like the hero of a novel, or more accurately, his family waiting back home. And is used to represent a belief in a specific "proper" upbringing. A lifestyle. A moral code.
