The $40 billion is not a major concern, paying interest on that has become one. I just learned that about 25% of the debt has to be refinanced, meaning that the loans have to be paid back by taking on new loans, and those have increased interest rates. Trump has to pay many times the interest Obama had paid. More than one defense budget a year.

We live in interesting times.
