It is sad whenever and wherever this happens, but it is particularly sad when this is a trend in the Netherlands. It is not that long ago when the Netherlands was one place where there was more community acceptance there than other places. Open BL's, a member of Parliament, radical groups, street processions, etc made BL's around the world take notice. But vigilantes are usually bored teenagers or people who need scapegoats to compensate for their poor life choices. It is not that dissimilar to witch hunts or the McCarthy era. It is most definitely not about protecting children. Very sadly, we have to accept that we are more hated than terrorists or murderers. Perhaps we should keep this in mind when we overload OC with vilification of other minority groups. Happy birthday sb, we all wish you well. |
