Yes, I knew that's what you wanted to hear. But I hope I made it clear that that is exactly what I refuse to offer, the very thinking I (and, I think, we) must not be sucked into. The only solution that interests me is pulling the plug.

Here's a compromise: train the bugger to unplug itself! If you really think it can be bent into benignity, that'd be the way to go.
