Tyler Renaud, as the younger version of the Josh O'Connor character, doesn't get to do much. Also, though the story clearly says both kids had their alien experiences at age 10, it seems that Tyler was at most 9, and possibly 8, at the time of filming. And he doesn't read (to me at least) as 10. As for Delaney Anne Cuthbert, who plays the younger version of the Emily Blunt character, Google AI tells me she "is 11 years old, having recently celebrated a birthday after previously being 9." So apparently she skipped right over being 10. Whatever her actual age, I thought she also seemed younger than what the script called for. This seems a bit sloppy on the part of a director who is usually sensitive to the ages of kids in his movies. I liked the film though. His best work since, I don't know, A.I. in 2001? (Though I did like Minority Report from the following year.) hugzu ;-p ![]() |
