I feel like these kinds of stories are more common than you'd think. While not always outright antagonists, the well-meaning-but-mistaken parent that stands in the way of the child spreading their wings is a pretty standard trope in modern children's fiction. How to Train Your Dragon, Turning Red, as well as Tomm Moore's Irish Folklore Trilogy come to mind. And Hoppers is a much more recent example in which an environmental activist youth and a Trump-like mayor are both able to put their differences aside by the end.
