They probably made it four hours long to give enough time to the DEI characters and to make them important. It's like how Hollywood issued a decree that 50% of its actors had to be nonwhite no matter how irrelevant or inaccurate it made the movie or show. Fortunately, that decree nearly killed off Hollywood and they quietly went back to stacking its productions with whites. I assume this production was one of the few that fell through the cracks. But you proved my point. In an effort to make LotF "woke," they made it unwatchable. Ironically, the BBC probably thought they went "too far" and would had made the cast more "diverse" by throwing in a trans character and issued a "trigger" warning that there are scenes featuring teenaged boys without shirts. |
