Not that it's a bad thing that you haven't graced us with your presence as much lately. Everyone gives up eventually, as in gives up on trying to force BC to be something it's not and just comes to terms with it's flaws. BC is great at what it's great at. It's a great beach head where newbies get an introduction to conversations about pedophilia, MAPs and boylove. It's a great place for unsophisticated people to start to get a better understanding of both the benefits and possible dangers of touching these touchy subjects. But you aren't alone to be disappointed by certain people's attitudes. It can be jarring to realize just how divergent one's values are from some of the other habituates of this place. Unsettling to watch them double and triple and quadruple down on the most asinine arguments, with seemingly no bystanders even noticing. It can make you start to wonder why no one else can see what you see. Not only does no one else help you put these trolls in their place, multiple other characters materialize to gaslight you, claiming not to see what you see. It's annoying at first, but then after a while annoyance gives way to curiosity as you actually pay attention to the way these same little groups of people act from week to week and month to month and in time it becomes clear who is here to have legit back and forth communication seeking understandings between equals verses people who have shown time and time again that they clearly aren't. You aren't alone in being fed up with the types of people who BC retains. Out of all the interesting lovely people who have gone through the steps to create a nickname here almost none of them stick around for the long haul. Many cool people make BC a stepping stone on their way to more civilized conversations held in more secure but less publicized websites, but the stupid, the elderly and the crazy visitors aren't able to make that leap and as a result BC has become the Aral Sea of websites: an environment where the introduction of good new people has dwindled to just a trickle, minus the constant evaporation of the previous population has led to a tiny dried out nasty residue of what was once a mighty and mostly healthy sea. If people want to put on protective gear and explore they can get to the bottom of what happened to this once thriving moist environment, but why bother? The more realistic path is to do what you (and almost everyone else) has done and consider BC as a valuable starting point, but shitty destination. ![]() |
