That's like saying to a 19th century democrat 'you only believe in democracy because you believe your party would win'. Even if it were true, the democrat could hardly guarantee the outcome of a future process over which he has no control, and so what he personally believes, hopes or expects is completely irrelevant to the question of whether democracy is desirable.
