My only very small bone to pick here is that I think it's not what everyone actually believes, rather it's the dogma that everyone knows they must follow OR ELSE. It's hysteria they must "act out." It is to leave the thinking mind behind-self induced amnesia regarding their own experiences in youth. And because, as you say, most adults are evolved to have attraction to adolescents, that touch of "evil" within makes the threat of being accused all the more real. People therefore go over the top when others are watching, become performative virtue signalers. The truth of this, in my mind, is in how things were before the hysteria began, especially regarding adolescent males and older females, not to mention all the men who used to look at 13 year olds and softly say, "if only that were legal." Not rose colored glasses, it's the way it was. Kids having sex in the 70's was just mostly accepted. It was "nature." Surely this moral panic will burn itself out. I may be 105 before that happens but we'll see. |
