Thank you for seeing a place for femboys in ancient Greece. I do think that femboys have been around as long as boys. And yes, there is something to be said about differing roles in society. Back then, some boys shot arrows with precision, some wrestled wild animals, and some painted and sculpted beautiful artifacts. ALL are welcomed. The boy was not the older man’s “social inferior” but his equal. In fact, the high-art literary and visual record amply suggests that the boy was regarded as spiritually superior by virtue of his youth and beauty. The older man gave tutelage and guidance in exchange for the public honor of the boy’s company. In Attic sculpture, boys were literally put on pedestals. There was and is a hierarchy of beauty, recognized by the eye of artist, poet, visionary, and lover. This passage is so beautiful!!!! I really wish and hope that we can return to this in my lifetime. ![]() |
