According to In Bed with Gore Vidal, William F Buckley had a "file" on Gore which Gore was terrified of ever being released. Gore's half-sister Nina Straight told the author that the file contained evidence of "Jerry Sandusky acts." Pressed further, she refused to comment. The book's title is a worry, but it's actually quite good. The author is determined to find out why Gore had trouble accepting his "gay" identity, and while the evidence for pederasty is recorded (briefly), it doesn't interfere with the book's conviction of Gore being a Great Gay Hero. He just had some difficulties accepting it, apparently. Gore also spoke at the Boston-Boise fundraiser that was the genesis of NAMBLA. Several friends recall him speaking of his attraction to adolescent boys. His one true sexual love was 12yo Jimmy Trimble, the very handsome athletic boy he fooled around with at school and for his entire life this boy remained Gore's one concession to the romantic guff he spurned. But all these worrying details are dealt with by referencing Gore's love of shocking people. Well, luvvies, what's more shocking than the truth? One smart career move Gore stuck to: he only fucked legal-aged young men when in America. Of course, he didn't spend much of his life there... Gore was a supreme aesthete. As if he'd repress or deny true beauty. |
