True that one should not just accept all claims at face value. This is where the gut check comes in handy.

What I find interesting is that some newer ideas are harder for some to believe while older claims are automatically accepted.

Let's look at a few older, yet fantastical claims:

a talking snake
a sea parting for fleeing slaves
a boat that holds two of every species on earth (love the gay lions, BTW)
a woman instantly turns to a pillar of salt for turning her head
a man lived in the belly of a big fish for 3 days
a man was killed and resurrected after 3 days
many who lived to be 800-900 years old
a river which turned to blood
water which turned to wine
a burning bush that talks
a talking donkey
2.5 million people wander a desert for 40 years

However, with the vastness of space, it is impossible that there are other lifeforms and that they have visited our planet. Also, that these other beings could possibly be more intelligent.

A hissing rattlesnake cannot comprehend a farmer holding a rifle, or what could happen if the trigger is pulled. Also, most people love to swat bees away or kill them, yet bees are integral to our survival, by pollinating over 1/3 of the food we eat. When a bee flies around me or lands on me, I just say "thank you" and it flies away.
