"The development in Brazil was the result of neither left wing MAP activism nor of some conservative model of pederasty, but rather a more relaxed attitude towards sexuality that could encompass a recognition of the sexuality of the young. Is it not as clear as daylight that this is our best shot?"

Sure, but the relaxed cultural environment in Brazil isn't fodder for your Left vs Right nonsense or any "Machiavellian calculation." You misconstrue it entirely through your own flawed political lens of Marxist idealism and EUnionism.

There is culture and there is counterculture. Countercultural figures are more readily able to take fringe positions and sometimes the counterculture becomes mainstream. It is not evident that political outsiders like the Greens will transition to the latter just because of one election. Neither is it evident that the Greens won't gentrify as they seek broader political success. Politics is downstream of culture and lasting change doesn't come from the top down.

As for de-Yankification (which means nothing to me, but why stop shoehorning your pet issues now?), isn't the UK in the middle of Epstein-mania? That's about as Yank as it gets. And in the US it was long considered by the mainstream to be a fringe MAGA thing until they got the notion they could use it to smear Trump. Is it any wonder that it would take deeper root in the birthplace of Puritanism?
