i said it before and i'll say it again, i think that the original "open magazine" version is MUCH better than the book, regardless of it's early 1990s focus.

When i looked over the book version, i noted that some of the stuff that a typical Leftist vanguard wouldn't want out too much was gone.

i wrote a letter to Chomsky about this sort of thing and he agreed. Even to the point of when i recalled a speech he did at MIT (in his late 60s) with a Left group sponsoring it. At one point in his depth demystification, a Left vanguard type got up and joined him on the stage and proceeded to interrupt him, saying he was sure that Chomsky was very busy and such things, and Chomsky was a bit at a loss at the time.

But he remembered it enough to agree with me when i mentioned it. Note, that was one of the few times he even "understood" what i was trying to relate to him, finally saying, in his typical kindly way, that we were just on "different wavelengths".

If people don't know, Chomsky used to be (at least) very laid-back about responding thoughtfully to ANYONE, i think, who wrote to him. But most people would not even try, i figure.
