| You say that you put "great effort" into communication and that I, by contrast, "cannot read", and yet you simultaneously announce that you refuse to read a word of my post because the word "Gaza" appeared in your peripheral vision! If you will not read posts in which I discuss the very points you raise then I think this would render "communication" rather difficult. Intellectual discussion is also rendered rather difficult if one side refuses to engage with the other side's point of view because they take personal offence that the other side has a point of view that differs from their own -- and this is what your stance amounts to, because the actions of the Israelis, which I believe you support (and correct me if I'm wrong on that), are actions that I, along with all international experts, do consider genocidal. I acknowledge that you do not consider the actions to be genocidal, but that is nevertheless what (in my opinion) they are. I made no inference about your character from this. If you accuse me of supporting mass murder because I believe that abortion rights are justified, then I shan't take offence; I shall argue my point. So why not argue yours? If the very mention of Gaza is so unsettling to you that you cannot read anything that reminds you of the place or its inhabitants, then what does that say about the fragility of your world view? |
