There are a lot of reasonable people in this world.

The average person on the internet probably won't understand, but when someone has known you for a long time, and they know that you would never hurt a child, they might accept it and even change their view on pedophiles.

I'm aware that not everyone is lucky enough to have people whom they can safely tell, and I wouldn't recommend anyone to take any risks with this. But we sometimes do underestimate people's capacity to think rationally about it.
