I walked up to him (he was sitting on a chair playing some video game on his mobile phone) yo-yoing. He saw me at once. It's the kind with lights inside that turn on as the yo-yo spins. Usually when I give him something I ask first, "Would you like this?" So far, he's never refused anything I've offered him. And he has always, somewhat mechanically but politely, said, "Thank you." This time I just took the string off my finger and handed the yo-yo to him. His eyes got big, and he said, "Oooh!" I walked away. I didn't wait for a "Thank you" as the look on his face said all that was necessary... Oh, the foam bats I gave him that could be used for mock sword fighting were next to the garbage bin yesterday morning. I suspect his parents made him throw them out, "You don't need these!" He can hide the yo-yo from them, so they won't know about it... Hmm... secrets from his parents? M. That's always our modus operandi, isn't it? Dance, tyred, dance! |
