One of the most erudite and well-educated men of letters of the 20th century. You will find some of the richest appreciation and celebration to be found of the pederastic traditions across cultures and millennia in much of his writing, not just in The Jules Verne Steam Balloon. He is nowhere remotely defensive of it, nor even apologetic in the theological sense. He simply shows it, and all of it is about seeing what is beautiful and keeping it beautiful and noble. Including all sexual pleasure: you will also find some fairly sexually explicit stuff, along with what now seems a rather naive alliance with "sexual revolution" (hence, the "You Are Not Alone" riffs) that became a part of his utopian imaginings -- an alliance made possible only by his own complete personal dissociation from sexual politics.

He called Ginsberg a "moral idiot," but the two once supped together cordially and enjoyed each other's company immensely...
