Boys especially are drawn to what is forbidden. Like when they had to stop airing the "Never put beans in my ears" song, because of the rash of boys putting beans in their ears, but afraid to tell their parents about it until it starts to sprout.

But that's the way people think it happens, so let them perpetuate the delusion.
