The blogger writesBut let me go on the record to say how creepy it is to watch the looks between the oilman and the Cajun boy. In these times, they come off like the prelude to sexual molestation. I'm trying hard to believe that back in the day, these nonverbal exchanges between boy and man were as innocent as the interactions between Timmy and Lassie, but I dunno. There is an admiration on the part of the boy towards these men, and the masculine world they bring with them, and naturally this particular oilman responds to this cute, friendly but appealingly shy boy who wants to be with them. Their interaction seems to lack "innocence" to the blogger because such natural emotional connection between a man and a boy has been demonised by half a century of the child abuse industry; because such a connection could develop into something more - in the words of the blogger, it threatens to be the "prelude to sexual molestation", the ultimate evil. What terrible times we live in. And if all this doesn't make anyone who hasn't already seen this movie interested in viewing it, then I don't know what will! ![]() |
