Were men (and woman) so completely acculturated/indoctrinated as suggested by the film, then why would one boy go against the current, and try to swim upstream, by being interested in football? The film seems to suggest that beneath the surface of males is a "maleness" that cannot be suppressed. Are women programmed by instinct to care for babies, and worry about housework so as to keep the environment clean and safe for the babies? Are men instinctually programmed to take charge, provide sustenance in the form of highly-nutritious meat from hard-to-hunt animals, and be responsible for defense? It seems likely to me... So of COURSE the boy wants to play football. Chasing small objects in a team is what males have been doing for millions of years. It's now in their genes. But NOT in the genes of females... M. |
