Some French literature

Do you know we have some Literature Nobel Prize BL laureates? At least two that I know of, both French: Gide and Le Clézio. Le Clézio is the author of Mondo, of which the movie made from it has been shared some days ago here.

A warning though: French literature is often quite satirical, critical and self-critical, if not outright misanthropic. I would not recommend reading too much of it, especially if you are in a depressed mode.

I'll give you the titles in French below, but you can easily find translations for most of them.

- The most 'luminous' book:
Les Nouvelles Nourritures terrestres (Gide): a poetical exploration of what it means to bravely explore freedom and joy according to one's nature. Not explicitly about boylove, but obviously written with young BLs in mind.

Other works by Gide may be worth reading, but some of them may seem quite cryptic and outdated from a modern perspective. Maybe L'Immoraliste is the most accessible one nowadays, with some implicit sound warning about being true to one's own feelings and behave accordingly in a responsible manner. Kind of an antihero story, but in a quite nuanced way.

- All works from Duvert are worth reading, but they have some quite dark and desperate undertone. "Quand mourut Jonathan" (about a BL and his young friend) and "L'Ile Atlantique" (about some quite sexually-active young boys) naturally come to mind. Warning: some very explicit content.

- Les Amitiés Particulières (Peyrefitte): a story about the strength of a love story between an older teenager and a younger one in the mid-20th century. (The movie is also quite good)

- La Ville dont le Prince est un enfant (Montherland): a somewhat similar story but with different perspectives. Recommended to BLs with a strong religious upbringing. Otherwise you could also just check the corresponding movie for the eye candies :)

That's what comes to mind right now.

By the way, feel free to explore boywiki, I'm pretty sure you can find a lot of ideas over there, and a lot more details about BL literature from all over the world.

Lots of happy boys to you,

FF
