Thank you, Pharmakon for pointing us to Sam's posts. I'm not sure that I agree with him on very much but his thoughts are well worth pondering.

I do believe that "born this way" works for both sexual preference AND sex/gender (which I argue are the same thing) in that these are things we can do nothing about. They are not mutable, no matter how much we try to fantasize them away. Sexual preference may unfold, over time, especially given social stigmas that get in the way, but it is what it is after a certain point of maturity.

My position on trans has only grown less accommodating to gender theorists as I hear more from those whose lives were ruined by becoming entrained to a destructive cult.

I know of no other movement for liberation that required the repudiation of same-sex attraction, hormones, castration and perpetual sexlessness to achieve their goals. More and more people who have gone down that road are finding this out, entirely too late.
