For millions of years, humans (and proto-humans) have existed without laws penalizing people for having sex/touching/romancing those of their species who were under a certain age.

Why do it now?

M.
People need to get over their irrational fear of sex!

They will not be able to overcome their irrational fear if they are threatened with the complete abolition of age of consent laws. Before a train can cross a river, a bridge must first be built.

Acceptance of homosexuality did not happen instantly. Homophobia was based only on the moral aspect; homosexuals were not considered predators and rapists of people. Eventually, the irrational persecution of people for homosexuality began to cause increasing cognitive dissonance.

In the case of youth sexuality and minor attraction, things are much more complicated. The irrationality of fear in relation to MAP is deeply hidden by the belief in violence and criminal behavior, so it does not cause cognitive dissonance. Cognitive dissonance will arise when the visibility of the MAP community becomes greater and when Youth gain more autonomy and can freely express their opinions.
