Yes, although, really, mainstream LGBTQ had abandoned gay kids back in the 80's when they decided that they, alone, would have no choice in who THEY could love. So, the deeply compromised position of the movement had been established for a very long time, approximately since the "L" suddenly kicked "G" out of first place and then dictated the terms of the movement and burned the "BL's" completely.

We used to have, to a significant extent, a place in the early gay rights movement. There were the liberationists on the one hand - who were the majority in leading this movement, most of whom had HAD relationships with men when they were boys and looked back on it fondly - and uptight moralist assimilationist, ass-kissing busybodies (we're looking at you, VIRPED!), on the other hand, who wanted us kicked to the curb. Since I was only eighteen to twenty, at the time, they looked pretty foolish lecturing ME about who I could love when they - typically - were in their thirties or forties or fifties saying that I didn't belong in "their" movement because gays could only have legal-age relationships. I will note that a number of them were from Christian fundamentalist families and many of them had come out as gay much later than the liberationists, often having been in hetero marriages. There's something about that to take note of.

By the way, for the youngsters here, it was originally "GLBT" and the "T" stood for "transvestite," not "transexual." To really understand the progress of the wider movement, with its evolving power struggles and ever-shifting acronyms denoting these shifts gained through back-stabbing, you need to start back at the mid-70's.

And yes, the anti-gay atmosphere within the trans movement is rife, today. We should not be supporting the victimization of gay kids.
