I think you're relying too heavily on the term "libertarian," here and making too many unwarranted assumptions about who they are and what they want and what they're saying. Many are real assholes, it is true, but then, most people who call themselves "libertarian" these days have misappropriated the term and are actually a form of "conservative." I don't find the word terribly useful or accurately descriptive any longer which is why I've ditched it to return to the original and true meaning of "liberal," although it doesn't help that few people know what that word means, either. They think it's synonymous with "progressive" except for the progressives who think that it is synonymous for exploitative capitalists. Liberals just turn out to be better people, all around. They don't tolerate oppression by the state, religion or the mob. If our society is to ever become more tolerant of our relationships, it will be because it has become more "liberal." "Trans" is a fever that has swept through the minds of progressives and leftist radicals, removing them, in the estimation of America's great "middle," further away from trustworthiness with the levers of government. It is a major, if not a primary, reason why Donald Trump will be reentering the White House in a few days, despite his, nearly unbelievable, unfitness for that office and the obvious danger he poses to us and to the world. |
