| I gather that there are serious doubts as to Bach's authorship of the Tocatta. There is almost no evidence, apparently, either way, so it appears not to be answerable. I'm happy for him to claim credit, in either case, because it makes things simpler (a composer in hand vs. no obvious alternative composer) and widens his range of expression from which this work may be somewhat of a departure. |
