Actually, after I wrote that, I realized that there were usually MORE boys than men on those trips. In those days, many parents would readily pack-off their kids to anyone who seemed nice enough to get rid of them for a day or two - or longer. Kids would bring their friends with them. The cars were frequently jammed with kids. Yes, completely unimaginable, today.
